About Rolfing®

Rolfing is a scientifically validated system of soft tissue manipulation developed by Dr. Ida P. Rolf. We work to bring the body into better postural balance and to change the adaptations that develop over a lifetime. Habit, injuries, and occupational strains all shape and distort our bodies. I work "hands on" to release restrictions and bring the client to an easier relationship with gravity. As your body changes, you will be receptive to what I call "body learning"—cues towards new ways of walking, sitting and standing—that reinforces your progress and insures that the changes last.

"In the past, I thought of Rolfing as a way to fix injuries. Now I get Rolfed to prevent them and to lengthen my playing career.
Phil Mercurio, electrician and avid tennis player

Injuries and Chronic Pain Symptoms are always part of a larger pattern/puzzle of body connections. Many physical problems can be resolved by the Rolfing approach to whole body balance:

Rolfing touch is gentle and specific, working from the surface into deeper layers. The client sometimes experiences a feeling of "burn" as when stretching. I work with each person as an individual, according to their needs and capacity. The work is comfortable for people of all ages and physical conditions. The Rolfing process is a powerful compliment to yoga, Pilates, and other training and wellness practices.
"I first sought out Steven's help over 15 years ago to resolve my lower back pain. But in the years since, after being diagnosed with chronic late Lyme disease, I've found Rolfing indispensable for easing the severe body and joint pain that the disease brings."
Michael Crean, retired police officer
